The past always comes back to bite us in the a**. Not this past, this one gets him a smack on each cheek. She's returning into his life, but he soon comes to find that she never really left and things start to heat up very quickly. How can you not love a read based round chasing the one who got away?

The characters are fantastic, with each having lots to add to the overall story. They are pieced together to create a very explosive read. The two main characters are fab on their own, but once they finally come together, there is a heat that you cannot resist. You are are draw into their story and get so hooked you nearly getting burned by the flame they've finally ignited.

I was glad to see a story come together, giving the leading man a second chance at the one he wanted, but never knew he did. I like stories like this and think the author did a fantastic job telling it. There are lots of details, including little moments they share and memories. All the little bits added in, next to hot scenes, makes for a very well rounded read, and one I would recommend reading.

Dirty Dealers (Dirty Players #3) by Tia Louise
3rd in a Series. Can Stand Alone.
4.25 Stars

Dirty Dealers by Tia Louise is marketed as a standalone spin-off to the Dirty Players series. While the main story stands alone, I wholeheartedly think you need to read the Dirty Players duet first for full enjoyment of the story. Even though I read the first two, I was still a bit lost at the beginning, so I can imagine that a newbie could be really lost. But once you get past the beginning, hang on, you are in for a ride!

Logan is one of the royal bodyguards. After falling for the Prince’s wife Zelda, he needs a break from guarding them so he won’t have to see their love all the time, so he is reassigned back home to Monagasco to guard the Queen Regent, Zelda’s sister, Ava. Blix, the villain from the first two books, is still at large, and there is word that his threat is front and center again, so Logan really needs to be on guard.

Cassandra met Logan when she was 19 and he was 24. They had a summer of love before he went off to the armed services and she had to go back to raising her little brother on her own. Cassandra is a fighter, that’s for sure. She is a tough chick drawn into a horrible world of crime and drugs; but she has no choice. It’s either her or her little brother, and she would do ANYTHING to protect him. Now she is being forced to take advantage of the man she once (and still) loved. From the minute they reconnect, Logan is hooked.
“He said I was the strong one, a survivor, but he has no idea all I’ve had to do to survive since I saw him last.”

Cassandra is so strong, she has an issue (I don’t want to give it away) that would make many people completely helpless, but for her, it was barely a blip. She only wished she could get out of the crime world she is forced into.
"Good people don't do what I've done. When life turns to shit, good people rise up and make noble choices. They don't make deals with the devil and put their loved ones in danger"

Cass showed up in Logan’s life at the perfect time. He needed to connect with someone and needed love in his life. And she was “the one” who got away.
"Fate just threw me a lifeline, and there's no way in hell I'll lose it this time."
"I'll have you in my bed, and no matter what it takes, I won't lose you again."

But Cass is working for the enemy, and things can get pretty dicey. As with the first two books, there is no shortage of danger, violence, intrigue and suspense. I was on the edge of my seat during portions of the story. Tia Louise knows how to craft a suspenseful tale that is very unique.

Because this is a second chance romance, they kind of fell back into their relationship. I felt like I missed a bit of their connection since it happens before the series starts. This doesn’t happen in every second chance romance for me, so I can’t really put my finger on why I didn’t feel the connection as much as usual.
"The boy I fell in love with has turned into the man I can't live without."

But that still didn’t stop me from really enjoying the book. It reminded me why I love to read romantic suspense. It was so exciting and unputdownable!

Likes:

  • •Cass was so strong, you would never know she has a major physical limitation.

  • •I’m glad Logan finally got his happy.

  • •Ava and Cass’s friendship.

  • •Edge of my seat excitement.

  • •Sexy times that never overwhelmed.

  • •Tia Louise isn’t afraid to “go there”, so you never know what might happen, who might die.

  • •Had my heart in my throat a few times.

Dislikes:

  • •I didn’t feel the connection right away.

  • •Why didn’t she talk to him? Grrrrr.

  • •I don’t think it stands alone that well, I think it’s way better if you read the first two.

  • •Sometimes the POV changes went over the same scene from the other POV which got a bit repetitive.

The Down & Dirty:

Dirty Dealers is the third book in the Dirty Players series. It’s marketed as a standalone, and while the romance does stand alone, so many previous characters and situations come into play that I think it would be way better if you read the fist two in the series first. As it was, I was a little lost in the beginning, and it took me a bit to get into. But once I did, yowza, I couldn’t put it down! There was so much action, drama, intrigue and suspense, I stayed up all night reading. Between the secrets and lies, the love and the sex, double crossing and criminals, Dirty Players is a series that never stops! If you like romantic suspense that isn't really dark (but it is gritty), I highly recommend this series.

Dirty Dealers is a second chance story. While I found it enjoyable it fell short of my expectations I was so excited to read it and I don't know but it just left me dissatisfied.

At pretty much the beginning of the book the hero is pining for Zelda, a woman he can't have. He then reunites with Kass, whom he hadn't seen in years and to me he transfers his unrequited feelings from Zelda onto Kass. It has been said that both women are similar and while the author's intention was to show that he had really been pining for Kass for all these years and Zelda was just a substitute it didn't come off that way to me which is why I was left with that feeling of dissatisfaction and why the book didn't wholly work for me.

After reading this author's ONE TO HOLD series and really enjoying it, I was interested in giving this one a try. This appears to be a spin-off of the DIRTY PLAYERS duet which has been languishing on my TO READ list for what seems like forever. The good news here is that this can be read as a standalone with NO problems whatsoever. I never felt lost or felt like I was dropped into the middle of a story.

This is Logan's and Kass's story. A second chance love affair that will melt your heart. After the events that occurred in the DIRTY PLAYERS books Logan is left feeling alone and unsettled. When the King suggests he take a few days off to relax Logan finds himself in a casino. There his path crosses with an unforgettable blast from his past. His first and only love Cassandra.

Things heat up fast between these two former lovers, but with Kass keeping a huge secret from Logan it's only a matter of time before the truth comes out and that could cost Kass to lose Logan forever. Filled with steam, intrigue, and action, this book checked all the right boxes for me.

Like I said above this one checked all my boxes. I love me a good second chance romance and this one did not disappoint. I loved both Kass and Logan. They were smokin hot together (and the sex scenes plentiful). The writing was fantastic. The plot flowed nicely and was full of action and intrigue. This was angsty, but without all the other woman drama. My favorite type of angst.

Just an overall really enjoyable read.

Just Wow!

Yes the cover & title & knowing this was a new series from Author Tia Louise hooked me into wanting to read this story.

I was not expecting all the surprises that happened in this book.

I mean WOW!

Logan and Cassandra are one sexy hot couple.

Second chance romances are my favorite and this book delivered it.

There is plenty of angst, sexy times and tons of feels for these two characters. The story kept me intrigued on what would happen between Logan & Cassandra. Loved how this flowed with the author's other series A Player for a Princess.

Overall great new series that I am looking forward to what is to come next.

4.5/5 Full Review can be found at http://thegraduatedbookworm.blogspot.ca

First, I want to say a big thanks to Tia Louise for sending me an ARC in exchange for an honest opinion. So, although this is a standalone novel, it does come from the first duet that was previously written. And what I mean by that, is it's based off a character that was created in the Dirty Players Duet which I loved!! This now follows a certain man that I'm sure everyone has been waiting for!! And honestly, it was AMAZING!!

While reading this book from beginning to end, not only do you know exactly what's going on, on other sides of perspectives, but I felt like I was a fly on the wall, or as if I was watching TV and knew what was happening, and yelling at the characters not to do things, and yet had to see it be played out anyway!

I could honestly feel so much happening to these characters, and there were moments where I physically felt the pain they were in. Clearly their history is complicated, but when you find out more from both (one more than the other) you really see how difficult it is for the both of them to have to do things they most definitely didn't want to do!

This was definitely a roller coaster ride! It was so action packed, and kept me on my toes! Although I said at the beginning that it was a little slow at first, it honestly just picked up speed and went full throttle to the end! So much happening at once, I maybe couldn't catch up for a quick second! Now I normally don't say I have a hate for certain characters, evil or good, but let me tell you my hate radar was on high alert for a specific person, and reading more about him and the way things uncovered were just insane, intense, and absolutely amazing!!

Overall this book was packed with so much! It was so fast paced, I literally sped through it over the weekend, and I just couldn't get enough! Although there was a little bit of slow, I found it to be such a high! Definitely what I needed after reading about the Prince's... It was all just so enticing, and I loved it!

Yowza! This book is scorching and in all the right places!! I really enjoyed every moment of this story. You have one confident and sassy leading lady in Kass. Then you have one sexy alpha male like Logan. Throw these two together and it is explosive.
You can feel the sizzle between these two when they see each other again for the first time. And it continues throughout! I love the banter and the intrigue as it kept me on my toes all the way through!
I am a huge fan of second chance romances, and this one is top on my list of those! You get just enough passion, angst and mystery through this epic tale and Tia Louise did not disappoint. I highly recommend this book and any other book by Louise!
