Continuing my reread of childhood favourites so take the rating with a grain of salt. This was better than the first one though it kept its fun and upbeat pace. The main character still has a lot of pick-me tendencies but they're more bearable in this one. It's funny to reread this book and see how much of it had an impact on me without realising it. I can also see why younger me loved this series so much. Jessica's character is really fearless in a way that makes her lovable.
ps: obligatory 'I love Rob's character' comment.

A great one. You root for Jess and every single other person and you cannot put the book down until you know the answers to all of your questions. Not to mention, Cabot has real talent penning honest and true relationships.

This was always one of my favourites within the series.

The whole camp element has always intrigued me. Being a South African we don't have summer camps and the whole set up of this book was brilliant.

I loved this book and rereading it brought back nostalgia to the nth degree.

You know what's cool? Jess's ability to seemingly act without fear. And her ability to instantly come up with snappy comebacks to bullying sorts without having to think about them first. Most of the time, the only time I can instantly come up with snappy comebacks is when it is extremely inappropriate to do so and then I have to keep them to myself, wistfully thinking of how much I wish I could use the beautiful zinger sitting in my brain.

A quick re-read. Jess's powers are growing and the FBI are still shadowing her. We also get a better glimpse of the friendship between Jess and Ruth and Jess's and the aptly named Karen Sue Hanky's rivalry. Rob may turn out to be one of my favorite love-interests with how laid back and supportive he is of Jess.

Couldn't get this series out my head lately as I read it as a teenager. It was as good as I remembered. Book 1 is definitely better than book 2, but what I'm really excited for is book 3 and 4!! Definitely recommend as a young adult novel.

This book almost had terrible sequel syndrome. I still enjoyed it, but I felt like the plot was basically When Lightning strikes in reverse. We have a skanky, alcoholic mom instead of an abusive, dead beat dad.

I did love the camp. Especially the, um, kids Jess looks after. Oh, sweet baby Lionel.

I really laughed at the Un-do-able, do-able and hottie scale.

I have found myself looking at guys the way Jess sees them in these books, Haha. "That guy is totally my soulmate and he doesn't even know it. I mean, we are totally made for each other. He should look at me."

I will conclude this by saying: I. love. Rob. Wilkins.
