3.5 stars……..it was good, okay…it was good. Was it great? Maybe to someone. Maybe to lots of people. The ending was very satisfying, of course, because obviously a woman knows how to handle business! Lots of parts of this felt like they dragged on to me, but overall the concept was very interesting and I enjoyed that. I liked that I liked some of the characters even when I was supposed to hate them and I liked that my morals almost felt like they were wavering at some points. This was incredibly well developed and well researched, which I can appreciate, but I do wish it captivated me more. I was missing that “can’t put it down” factor.

really interesting book, a challenging read given the changing perspectives, unfamiliar to me vocab, and non linear story but once you get into it you are IN. i really enjoyed the character of etsy i think because she, like me, has a cat (i love you tazz!!) and, like me, likes handling archival material so that was fun. anyway complex and dark book, it was really awesome and as the author did in mongrels he's really good at coming up with some super fascinating lore for his supernatural creatures. to be honest i struggled within the first maybe quarter of the book as there is so much mystery and the pace is somewhat slow but eventually it really gripped me and overrall it's a good read!!
also just wanted to mention the acknowledgements section at the end is really worth listening to. stephen graham jones is so enthralling to me!!
