challenging dark mysterious tense

What a book… while the language used takes some getting used to it is an incredible read. Complex, gruesome, unsettling and uncomfortable, 10/10 would recommended if you like a historical gruesome horror.

This one's pretty brutal, but the best Stephen Graham Jones I've read, definitely deserving of an award of some kind.

Undoubtedly, Stephen Graham Jones is a great writer, but having read a few of his books now, I'm still not sure if the style is for me. He writes with a vagueness that both sets the scene and leaves me confused. For example, Good Stab is often gesturing "like this" without any further descriptors, and so I don't end up with a clear picture in my head. But the lack of clarity adds to the unease.

If you really liked this one, I'd suggest Indian Burial Ground by Nick Medina.

Definitely a wild ride. Took a while for me to settle into the language being used and I would recommend listening to it on audiobook in tandem or

of the pronunciations. What a wild ride.

i wish i was in a book club or a lit class to discuss this book, because there’s so much interesting and complex stuff happening here that i think i can only process through discussion. i suppose i will just have to seek out other people’s thoughts.

really good, the structure did mean it dragged a bit for me in places, but i was absolutely riveted for the entire second half of the book.

As close to perfection as a genre novel can get.
