I enjoyed the horror aspects of this book. It's a good vampire tale about getting vengeance. Good stab is a really interesting character. It is very depressing though, at times a hard read. It's just like getting constantly kicked when you're down. It's the truth of our history though.
Cons for me: Very gorey and descriptive of hurting animals, but that kind of makes sense for the premise of the book. Just not my vibe. There's also a scene where a child is raped. I feel like the story could have done without that tbh.

This was one of the most unique stories I've experienced this year, and the journey it takes you on is fantastic. For a good bit of the book this was a 5 star read for me, but there were some pacing issues in the middle and a pretty meh ending that knocks it down a bit. I highly recommend the audiobook for this one, excellently performed and captivating throughout.

There were parts of this book that I really liked and some that probably could have been cut… all in all I stand by my recommendation to my dad, that he’d like the author’s obvious first person experiences with and amongst indigenous folks.
If anyone ever wants spooky stories and native people this will be one of the first books that comes to mind.

Native American vampire, sweet. Mostly a story about genocide and colonialism, if only they could have been stopped by one vampire. The book is a little too long, though.
