“Don’t judge a book by its cover.”

No, scratch that. This book SHOULD be judged by its cover and I’m not saying it’s a good thing.

Had to edit my review because if you read any other book by the author, whether it is this series or not, all the dynamics are almost the same. Plot of her stories are repetitive. This is change of my review is after I DNFed King of Pride BTW, not just from the twisted series.

I always love the chemistry in most of Ana's books including this one. I really thought I wasn't going to enjoy it as much because it's a older brothers bestfriend love interest but Josh didn't appear as much. It made me almost cry at a hair salon because I love a man who LOVES and will do anything to get what he wants

This book was all over my FYP on TikTok and when I read the synopsis, I thought why not. I need something to read while I'm bored at work and this seemed interesting enough. Plus, it had a majority of my favorite tropes in it.

Best friend's brother? Check. Grumpy/sunshine? Check. Groveling? Triple check. Touch her and I'll kill you? Sign me tf up please thanks.

Now, I'm a slut for your typical "i can't date my best friend's sibling" trope. It's *chefs kiss*. Truly. I will eat that shit up like there's no tomorrow. I gave this book such a low rating compared to the other because to be honest, I couldn't related to Ava or Alex.

Alex, while he may fuck like a pornstar and some of the stuff he said to Ava made my legs twich. It was the unbearable, overprotectiveness that irked me. I don't know if we can blame my Aquarius sun or the fact that I LOATHE when people tell me what I can and cannot do. If you tell me I can't do something, you bet your ass I'm going to do that EXACT opposite of what you told me not to do. I also didn't appreciate how he spoke about her like she was an object he owned. Saying that she belong to him and any man that dared looked in her direction would be murdered irritated me.

If my boyfriend ever said some shit like that to his friends and I overheard that – immediately dumping him. I am my own person and I'm not an object that you own. It especially bothered me when she was trying to land a job doing a wedding photoshoot and he was a complete asshole. Like sir, if you don't trust your girlfriend to talk to other men you need to check your insecurities and take them elsewhere. He also had the AUDACITY to be pissed off when he was like an hour late to their date. Sir, disrespectfully fuck off. Thanks.

Also, I know that they're both consenting adults. But it felt like some of the things that Alex would do to her in bed felt forced and borderline like she didn't want to do it or just wasn't sure she wanted to but he never bothered to ask if it was okay. Does that make sense? Idk, again I'm weird and some scenes genuinely made me say "why tf does she stay with this man? Do better."

Their friend group though, *round of applause* I had a friend group like that in high school and while adulthood has dwindled the group to three, it was great times. My favorite of the group is Jules. I love her. I wanna be besties with her. Thank you.

The beginning of the book was cute af. With their cute moments together and them slowly falling in love and yes, I'll admit some of the sex scenes had me hot and bothered. Tell me I'm a 'good girl' and I'm literal silly putty in your hands. I'm not ashamed to admit that. I may be an strong, independent woman but please put your hands around my neck and call me a 'good girl'. *screams internally* if you read this and you know me, no you don't.

while this book may not be my favorite of the series, it's still a great read considering I plowed through it in two days. So if this is still on your TBR, pick it up and read it, you won't regret it.

It was good enough that it kept me intrigued in the beginning. However, I found it lackluster. Too many tropes. I think I just thought the MFC was annoying..needy… basic…cringey. All the characters seemed so cliche. I’m only going to the read the second one because I’ve heard better things about that book, but definitely not because of the “cliffhanger” (if you can call it that?) at the end, which was not something that had me hooked. I had higher hopes but I think three stars would be overly generous for this book.
