Perhaps I’m biased as a night vale fan but regardless this was FANTASTIC. The body horror was great, the mystery was fun, the social/political allegory was really well done. I loved it.
Graphic: Body horror and Violence

I think this book works so much better as a podcast, as somebody who adores the podcast and finished it in 4 days. However, I'm still giving this book a 4-star because it has a special place in my heart, and because there were some very quotable moments in this book.
Graphic: Gore, Murder, Grief, Body horror, Blood, Death, Abandonment, and Violence
Moderate: Panic attacks/disorders, Police brutality, and Stalking
Minor: Cursing, Colonisation, and Antisemitism

I've listened to the audio drama in its entirety 3 times. Its a good story that haunts me still.

I am giving this a 3-star rating only because at times, it was difficult to pick up again. The pacing at times was off-putting and seemed like it wanted to end, but had a quota to fill, so it didn't. If it were presented as a story in multiple parts, I would have been able to digest the fact easier.
However, it is a immersive story with relatable characters with a lovely pinch of supernatural horror. I never listened to the 'Welcome to Nightvale' podcasts, but the reading of this book has convinced me to do so.

I'm surprised by the reviews for this, but also know to take reviews with a grain of salt. I thought this was a fantastically engrossing read, and excited me in a way few books have recently. At no point do you truly feel like you have a full grasp of the scope of what's going on (much like the Oracles, who see outside of linear time and everything at once). But once you begin to put the pieces together, the book is both extremely sad (because land is the only sign that we're moving) and ultimately uplifting. For the thoughtful reader, there's a great deal to think about here, packaged in an intriguing and original story.

Enjoyable novel, though I do feel the story had more impact in its original podcast form.

this just wasn’t what i was expecting it to be and that is so unfortunate honestly. i like the podcast but the way it’s told in the book just wasn't enough to hook me and it was hard to keep my attention. i had to keep going back and relistening to previous chapters because i kept dozing off. i like the story itself and the premise! just don’t like it in this format.
