Too much.
Minor spoilers to 25%.
This book, Looking for Jane. I think I'm done. The unwed pregnant girl isn't cheap in the story as she was engaged and the fiance died. How did he die in 1968 Toronto? Never says. Let's say malnutrition.
Then the church has to keep her the second she starts to show, so for like 6 months, so they charge the couple money. The girl is like "they are selling my baby!!!" About 100 times.
Then when it's her turn to give up the baby she says she doesn't want to and the nun back-hands her across the face. So realistic.
I read this as I want to know the story. I'm sure these girls had it hard enough without ratcheting the drama up to 11. I swear the nun twirled her moustache like Snidley Whiplash.

I was very excited to read/listen to this book.
This book is just okay.
It seems very confusing to me in my opinion.
It is interesting to read.
I rated this book at a 2, I would give it a 2.5 but that is pushing it.
I should have actually read the back of the book instead of just glancing at it.
This book is interesting, I did listen to the audiobook for the most part and that was just okay.
It's a great story I just don't think it was told well.

A challenging read at points, this book highlights some dark points in recent Canadian history.  Written in the style of Genevieve Graham, this well-researched story hit a nerve for me, an adoptee from this era. While I am not a fan of multiple points of view or timelines, both devices were used to good effect in this novel. Recommended with potential trigger warnings.
