I read the blurb thought it sounded interesting enough to buy it for I believe about a couple of bucks on a bookstore sale. In the pile of books they get rid of to make room for new ones! Usually this pile does have some hidden gems, sadly not this one.
The first 70-100 pages did go by alright with me, even to the point where things about the celestials and so on had me hooked and yearning for more info. That said there ended up being way too many pet-peeves about how things were excuted in the story. I'm not even gonna bother listing them.
Originally I was going to sacrifice myself and read the second one when I believed it was just going to be a duology... just for completion. Having joined goodreads and learned it might end up as a trilogy... I'm not even going to bother. I'll pass the book on to charity the next time I do a clean-up.

I was actually very eager to read this as the protagonist is a Latin Queer boy. The pace is nicely fast and all, but there's no character development, the plot twists are cliche and the fantasy is very x-men.
