I wanted to love this book. I really really did. And I hate giving lower ratings when I've met the author online and know what a wonderful person they are. I really enjoyed parts of the story and I definitely see huge potential here. However, I wish that Winter had found out the truth about the Stormholds much, much earlier. The waffling confusion in the first half or so of the book was a little difficult to get through and I think there was so much more to be done with Winter in their world than before she gets there.
I think the book needed one more round of really stringent editing. There were quite a few typos and awkward sentences that detracted from the story. As well as some descriptions and actions that were so confusing they pulled me out of the action.
I love the concept of the story and the last third of the book was very intriguing and a bit more smoothly written.
