The 6 and 10 year olds both LOVED THIS BOOK! A little scary and suspenseful but all in all, lots of fun. Great book to read with siblings.

felt like they did a great job expressing how rules should be following, but not in every circumstance. it appeared to get scary, but wasn't

This is the best story I have ever read ever. I cannot wait to read more books like this. I really appreciated the fact that they included pictures with words. PICTURES, guys. It's like a magical other world. And the rug and I are like bffs because aromatic veggies are literally my favorite thing to chop when I'm making rule breaker stew. Yum, yum.
I hope the next book ends with dinner for the appliances instead of a lame 'children not dying' ending. #futurehopesanddreams

The rules of the house is an imaginative story about Ian a boy who always follows the rules and his sister Jenny who refuses to follow the rules. When a serious rule is broken, Ian must decide if he will break some rules to save his sister. This book started out well, but I didn't like the overall message of the book.

I don't think it's possible for me to love Mac Barnett more. Another adorable and funny book--can't wait to read it to our storytime folks.

This book is weird and the monsters are real life objects that are disturbing! But it's a good read. Just be prepared. It is definitely one that sneaks it's scares on you. I'm reviewing it here because I always forget what this one is called, but I always want to recommend it when a patron is looking for something a little weird for their kids.
