This was my first time reading a novella by D. D. Larsen and I am questioning why. The range of emotions I went through reading Robertas story was sure a thrill. The detail in some scenes was so good. I can't wait to read what else she comes up with.

This made me so sad.
We all know what it’s like to lose your first love.
It’s not easy in the 1900 to be a strong headed woman and I really connected with Roberta.
I didn’t really have a connection with Nathan, but Roberta is the star.

I received this as an ARC review and I really enjoy the authors writing style so I knew I was going to love this book. I have read the other books in the academy series and with each book you fall in love with the characters and the world so fast that you feel like you are going home when you read this series! This book revolves around Roberta who we have met in previous books and being able to have some background and context for this book made it all the better! I love how the author depicts how society and life was for independent young women during a time where society was not really “built for women” this book will catch your attention and take you on an amazing adventure for sure would recommend this series to friends who want to dip there toes into this style of writing and this genre of books!
