This author is my favourite for dark romance novels and this is a good damn great book. I loved how grief was handled in the book. I loved that these characters were in so much pain and you could feel through the pages. I wish there were more romance novels like this.

Broken Knight

THOUGHTS:

I want to thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for giving me the opportunity to read an e-arc in exchange for my honest review.

There is not a single book LJ could write that I would not read. They could write the a phone book and I’d devour it. I loved this read. It was so good and you move right through it leaving no crumbs! Take all my stars LITERALLY! The characters were so incredibly well written and you get all the feels for them. I adored these characters. I fell in love with Knight Cole and adored Luna to peices. My heart went through many emotional rollercoaster rides through the entire book, I cried and laughed and cried some more and giggled….. This book gave me all the feels from start to finish and when I finished I felt unwell because I didn’t want it to end. I will be making this a must read in my book club and know that this will be a reader favorite by all! Fabulous work!!!!

Oh boy, this book was deeper than I thought. At this point I keep sobbing but it was worth every tear.
Broken Knight is the second book of All Saints High Series. Knight is the son of Dean and Rosie Cole, the couple from the second book in the Sinners of Saint series, I know, sounds complicated but it’s so worth it. I recommend reading first at least Pretty Reckless but if it’s possible, the Sinner of Saint series because Broken Knight has some spoilers about them. But it can be read as a stand-alone.
Knight has a thing trying to protect his neighbor whenever he sees her struggle. During their life they kept being close; during the night they slept together and during the day he protects her from bullies. Luna has her own past which keeps hunting her and keeps her from speaking, she decides to learn sign language to communicate. Most of the time Knight helped her translate. But being that close isn’t enough for Knight because he wants the real deal with Luna, only she keeps pushing him away, avoiding their hearts to be hurt. We follow their story as they learn how to deal with their life, decide to grow up, go through hell, and be whole to be worthy of their love.
This story is full of surprising things, difficult situations but the gift of living a love so powerful that not even tragedy could break. Such an emotional story with lots of angst and hilarious comebacks. You won’t be disappointed at all.
@ljshen writing is so easy to get caught in it. She rights so deeply that you are left with a hangover.

Knight was just a kid that didn’t feel love. He grew up feeling unworthy and honestly the greatest love he’d, died. I love that Knight was Rosie’s favorite son because he deserved so much more and I hope he gets it with Dixie. I got really sad when he decided he couldn’t handle his emotions and he overdosed. That punch me really hard. Also, he was a virgin! Like what? I never thought about it, I thought he was just as bad as his dad. Which brings me to Dean; his greatest love died, I couldn’t be more devastated for that, they went through a lot and he lost her at the end.
Luna is such a strong character but she can be really frustrating sometimes. She loved him and they’re several situations in which she knew she could say something to prevent them from hurting each other, but she did it anyway. It wasn’t cool who she lost her virginity to but at the moment that was what she wanted and it was ok for me. Overall she grew up so fast and she overcame her insecurities, which was the best thing that leads to leaving her home. I was really proud of how she stood for herself but some things were just so predictable because she could’ve prevented them. She’s no perfect but in the end she’s just an invisible woman. I can’t wait to meet their baby.

At first i had a hard time getting in to this book about half way through this story it was getting emotional intense and had me crying and laughing and crying throughout the ending of this book. The emotions were hard and strong and I could feel the energy from the words that flowed off the pages. This is amazing read that will have you on a ride of highs and lows throughout this book.

okay. wow. so. everyone i’ve ever talked to about sos/ash all agreed that this book was, well, total crap. and so, i don’t know what it is- did i go into it with low expectations? is that why it didn’t disappoint me? i don’t know, actually, but what i do know that i loved it immensely and so fucking much. it was beautifully written and it made me cry so many, so, so many times over and over again.
let’s be real- the love story? probably not the best one i’ve come across. the angst was unnecessary, and maybe too winded up for no one’s good. it was a simple thing, a simple misconception and while i understand how it went from being something small to utter chaos- i also felt like it wasn’t really needed with everything else going on. maybe a different plot would’ve worked better? but i guess i won’t know, this is what happened and while it wasn’t very good or well executed, it is what it is.
what i really, really loved though- luna rexroth. from the start to the very last page, i’m in love with her, her choices and her decisions, her growth from who she felt comfortable being to who she wanted to be. the part where she finally talks to her dad, telling him about what she did- and the ink stain in the carpet- had me bawling. i’m not even kidding, i was weeping my heart out and it made me so fucking happy - because this, this, this scene was a happy ending, even if it happened in the middle of the book. this is what i’d be racing towards, trent and luna, finally finally finally. and i’m so happy it happened, i’m so in love with them- with edie and their little unlikely family with all the unconditional love in the world.

knight. knight was someone i didn’t think if i’d like- but like dean, he grew on me to the point where i had my fingers crossed the entirety of the book, just praying everything would resort itself to bliss- even when it looked like it never might. he reminded me of dean in so many ways, which was a wonderful thing. him fighting for luna over and over and her fighting for him, in turn, was probably my favorite thing in all sos/ash couples so far, however much i didn’t like the plot between “lunight”. knight giving his birth mother a chance was so heart warming too, and aah, i’m so happy half the things in this book happened the way they did.
(side note: i’m kind of getting super tired with the way the author writes all the books, so far, with one particular skeleton plot in mind. get! something! new! it’s always all the same with little things here and there changed up, and it’s getting kind of old now.)

but the sucky part- and i’m dreading even typing it out- rosie dying. felt like an ambush and i wanted to choke for the life of me, because it was brutal and rough and i know it was realistic and a good backdrop to everything that was happening- but on god if it didn’t feel like someone was actively hurting me. i loved rosie so much, back from the first book and especially during her own book and i spent all the interactions with her, just crying and crying and crying. (i knew beforehand that she’d die in this book)
her staying strong until the bitter end, and dying (literally) in dean’s arms........leave me alone for at least 400 years. jesus fuck. ride or die, baby leblanc. ride. always ride. (quoting from memory so don’t sue me)
i really did understand the author’s pov in making her pass on, but god, it hurt like a bitch and i’m so sad i just :( and i’m really not into the whole dean-moving-on thing right now? like? it’s only been 2 pages ma’am i’m getting whiplash.

aah. i really can’t remember anything else i wanted to rant about, i think i’ve got it all covered. i’m probably gonna do a proper review on this once my exams end. but jesus christ. this book made me go through so much, cry and laugh and be happy and in pain, and so. i didn’t plan on giving it 5 stars at any point, but i think i have to. (end note: i love luna rexroth (cole?) so so so so so much).

I loved this...until the last two chapters.

SpoilerWTH is with 18/19 year old's getting engaged in these books?

Even though Book 2 wasn't as wild as the first, this story tugged my heartstrings.

I still plan to finish the series, but I really hope it doesn't have the same ending in the next two books.

Thank you Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
