What a lovely surprise! I did musicals in high school, ages ago, so I picked this up hoping it would be good fun. And it was. I feared it might have all the earmarks of "mean girl" lit which I am heartily sick of, but no -- real friendships, talent, some divas who you can actually like, and a lot of humor. Best of all, the musical the story works around is Godspell, which I've been in twice and seen many times so it felt just like home. Oh for a high school like this one, where the Arts get more money and attention then sports...true fiction, sigh.
