I have autism and it just felt a little uncomfortable to read this book with all the r slurs and stuff! I don't have the same needs as Natalie does and this book is supposed to take place in the 30s but I felt like the autism could probably be handled better if this book came out today and not in 2004

this is a terrible depiction of autism, and it is absolutely twisted how they use an autistic girl's potential rape for dramatic tension
