not much to add that i didn’t mention in the first volume review. i still love the paint style art (it’s gorgeous if a little chaotic for story telling purposes but i think it’s intentional chaos). also there was not more space pig.

The art in these volumes can be breathtakingly beautiful, but that’s about all it has going for it, because the story is so bonkers, so out of the box, that it’s plain ridiculous. Kooky can be cool, but in this case it’s just not.

I think it’s because the Winter Soldier as a character is so incongruous in his own story. The artwork belongs to what it’s depicting. The beauty of space, the cosmos, planets and stars. And that is not, in my mind, where Bucky Barnes belongs.

Even Daisy Johnson, whom I love, is wasted here.

There’s just no point to anything here. It’s a long, rambling tale that ultimately achieves nothing.
A waste of time and a great disappointment.

First things first: I still adored the art in this volume (minus the, uh, simpler style). It was breathtaking, it was captivating, and it was utterly gorgeous. The story itself, however, felt a little weaker here than it was in the first volume. I think the series could have been much better without future!Bucky and Crossbones, and I probably would have loved it a lot more if it focused on developing Bucky's relationship with Ventolin, who seriously deserves a solo run (or at least another appearance!). I was also a little confused by Loki, who they sort of mentioned in the first volume but then kind of abandoned.

To be fair, this isn't the worst series I've ever read, and it was still good enough that I liked it. I also think that if they stretched this story over more issues, and had more room to explore the plot, it could have been more polished and smooth, and that would have made it better.

Sigh
This was disappointing.
I’m truly not even sure I know what the story was?
Kind of a bizarre volume.

The artwork (excepting the standard comic panels/characters) was stunning -- more cinematic painting than typical comic layout. The story was decent, much of it told visually as with words, though there were some all-too-convenient end tyings happening and the character seemed to lack much chemistry with one another.
But I'm never really going to hate anything that puts Bucky and Loki in the same comic...
