Yazarın, yazdığı ilk Hop-Çiki-Yaya olmasına rağmen önce Peygamber Cinayetleri'nin yayınlandığını, aslında normalde onun serinin ikinci kitabı olduğunu bir söyleşisinde okuduğum için Buse Cinayetleri ile daldım bu dünyaya.

Dili ile ilgili çok bir şey söyleyemeyeceğim, birinci tekil şahıs anlatıları öyle aman aman sevmediğim için objektif olamıyorum ama akıcılık ve kurgu beni sardı sarmaladı. Tatilin son günü başlayıp, eve döndüğüm aşırı hasta halimle elimden bırakamadım.

Bence bu seriyi İstanbul'un bir alt kültürü olarak okumak lazım. Polisiye işin süslemesi, sürükleyicilik faktörü. Dolayısıyla ikincil baktığım şey. Birincil olan trans/travesti dünyası ise anladığım kadarıyla çok iyi resmedilmiş. Sonunu tahmin edememek iyi bir polisiye işaretiyse, o da bence başarılı olmuş.

Ana karakteri sevmekle birlikte, bazı yan karakterleri daha çok sevdim gibi hissediyorum. Ama ana karakterin beni en çok eğlendiren kişi olduğunu da unutmamak gerek, sonuçta her şeyi onun mizahi gözünden, yorumundan okuyuyoruz.

Neyse, okuyalım, okutalım bu seriyi.

I know this is supposed to be an over-the-top coquettish romp through a murder mystery, but because the suicide rate for transgender people stands at 41% and the life expectancy of transgender people is 30-32 years, it was hard to enjoy the wit and fashion fun. Death at a young age feels all too real for this community.

the back copy is kind of misleading—the main character and most of her friends appear to be transwomen, less drag queens, not to be dismissive of fluid sexuality. I did not find the casual blurring of queer lines to be transphobic but a transwoman is murdered in part to black mail a politician. Some characters deadname her but recognize her as a woman, but still use inconsistent pronouns. I experienced these characters as having depth and the community of queer folks felt natural to me, but I would encourage any potential reader to seek out trans opinions on the work especially if they are sensitive to any transphobia in the work.

Çok tuhaf ve farklı bir kitaptı, ama aslında hoşuma gitti. Yazarın tarzı çok eğlenceli ve rahatti, kitabı her açtığım kere ona kolayca dalabilirdim.
Hem de şimdiye kadar buna benzer bir konuda hiçbir kitap okumayıp biraz endişeliydim, fakat okumak için zor bir kitap değildi.
Diğer kitapları bulabilirsem memnuniyetle okurum.

Really intriguing read. Gave me some knowledge on Turkish culture in the transgender community, though sometimes the narrator felt inauthentic. Glad I read it, but probably would not recommend to others or read from this author again.
