There certainly are a lot of these stories! They are very British, very clever, and very Chesterton and they were great fun to read.

I read the first part of the Father Brown stories as an independent book which came with the newspaper as a mystery collection and I really enjoyed it. It was in Spanish. Then I found this book at my favorite book store and it was really affordable, so I bought it and started reading. I liked the introduction and the first collection of stories but the rest were a bit repetitive and I got bored. It has been six years and I finally got over it. I thought I would never finish, but I have a personal mania according to which I have to finish all the books I start, so I got it, but I didn't really enjoyed it.

Only got halfway through. Earlier stories were better (the precursor to Agatha Christie). But later the clues were internalized by characters instead of included for the reader, which got boring. Bailed.

Quite amusing, but obviously dated. The conundrums are very interesting, and the devil-may-care Flambeau is quite the anti-hero/hero. I'm sure I remember these being made into 90-minute dramas on German telly in the early 70s.

I started reading this tome back in October 2021, got to page 633 and had to set it aside. I decided today I'd finish the dang thing. Got to page 660 and said NOPE! I've had more than enough of Father Brown!!!

this wasn't as good as i remembered it being. i had to resort to listening to it as an audio book to get through it and the weird inconsistencies in morals between the narrator and father brown and sometimes father brown and himself were just very :/ to me. i had a half hour left on the audio book but i'm not gunna bother to finish it.
