Holy shit! What an amazing conclusion to this manga. Very disappointed in Teto and Yupa dying. I cried. And who would think I could feel bad for the fire warrior? Absolutely amazing.

What’s not to love about a series of books whose eponymous character has a rodent(like) familiar and an affinity for enormous insects? The peaceful ecological theme and veiled criticism of atomic weaponry were equally appropriate. I quite enjoyed this series!

[Recensisco per comodità l'intera serie e non solo questo volume]

Fantastico, mi ha lasciato davvero a bocca aperta in molti punti. Dal disegno alla storia, alla confusione alla moralità (e amoralità). Miyazaki ha davvero capito cosa vuol dire raccontare la storia di un anti-antieroe, di qualcuno che tenta di fare il bene maggiore e spesso fallisce nel suo intento. Persino Ohma non viene rappresentato come bianco o nero, e nel corso di poche pagina ci si affeziona addirittura ad una divinità che è un cumulo di ossa e carne marcia.

Ammetto che alcuni disegni sono un po' caotici, da tanto che sono pieni zeppi di dettagli a volte si fatica un po' a leggerli, ma al contempo fanno parte di ciò che crea un mondo così vivo che mi sembra di averci vissuto. Ricordo la visita al villaggio nella foresta come un ricordo d'infanzia, o il "limbo" del guardiano della tomba come ad un posto in cui mi sarei fermato (non adempiendo al mio destino finale).
