Having known of play, the specific infamous scene and Edward Bonds interpretation of society I was eager to read Saved. But its certainly for the stage... Not intended to be "read". Would love to see an adaptation. 
My biggest struggle was finding the south London voice and following the dialect.

Urgh.

Being a piece of assigned reading and a play of about only 90 pages or so, I made myself read this over the course of a day. I am just thankful that it was only a matter of hours that I had to endure this, any longer and I may have had to toss it upon burning embers.
