I enjoyed The Dream Thieves a lot but it was lacking for me as compared to The Raven Boys. I thought about given this book 4-stars but ultimately settled for 3.5 stars because the beginning of the book dragged for me. Plus, I did not become that engaged with the characters like I did with the prior book. The plot was good and it intrigued me. But even there, I had some issues with the use of tarot cards but more importantly with the use of scrying—these things made me uncomfortable. I love fantasy and many of it's elements, but the cards and scrying was not fantasy for me. Besides that issue, I do indeed like the plot line of this series.

I've been hooked in line and sinker with wanting to know how the mystery of Cabeswater will resolve. I am beyond curious if Blue's foretold future will come true. I am curious about all the characters and how their lives will be changed after completing their task of finding Glendower, if they ever do.

The characters, let me say a word about them, I am still very much interested in all of them but they didn't seem to develop much in this book. I suppose one can argue they did because a couple of them have started to change, but I say their actual character has not grown much. Maybe the growth will happen as the series continues. Still, I like them—their contributions to the story even if I don't care much for a character's personality. This book has definitely started to flesh out which characters I like more than others, that is for certain. It will be interesting to see, as I read the next two books, if I will continue to lean towards the ones that I do now.
And oh hey!...I must say...the Gray Man, he is super intriguing. I definitely hope we get to know him more in the coming books.

Bottom line: All in all, I enjoyed The Dream Thieves. I definitely liked The Raven Boys better, but this still is one good story. Maggie Stiefvater's gifted storytelling abilities has left me darn curious about how the plot line will sort itself out. I am darn curious about who The Raven King will turn out to be. I am darn curious. The Raven Cycle series has definitely grabbed my attention.

INHALE. EXHALE. I lo VE this series so far! From what I got, this book was sort of based on Ronan's dreams...? Yeah, it's been a few hours since I finished it. In this book, Blue & the 'Raven Boys' seem closer together (which I LO VEE). There's a few new characters that I particularly don't enjoy though...they don't take off on the rating because they seem to be important later in the story.
I'm starting Blue Lilly, Lily Blue right now *hype*

This read is complex for me, I loathe the multiple pov switching (can’t stand Ronan’s character 😬), but I’m still feeling invested in where this story is going, so I will read the series. I find a lot of the author’s choices to be subtle yet impactful and the magic system is so beautifully integrated.

4.5/5 What crack did Maggie Stiefvater put in this book? This is supposed to be a trashy paranormal book for middle schoolers. I guess I fit the audience for this book because I ate this up. I don’t care if it’s cringe I love it.
