Such a cute picture book! The illustrations are really well done. As a child who loved the zoo, I would have adored reading this book with my parents. It’s a short, easy story. It could certainly be used in a zoo themed story time.
Summary:
-Do not read past this point if you would like to avoid spoilers-
This is the adorably depicted story of baby hippo Fiona and how the whole world watched her birth and strive for life.

For: Fiona/hippo fans; readers looking for a cute book that features many zoo animals and discusses overcoming obstacles.
Possible red flags: working through struggles.

Cute story about an adorable Hippo that I have seen on a visit to her zoo once a few years ago.

So Fiona is a real hippo, but this is a fiction story (I mean the pool party), it's cute, and while the general facts are correct, it is quite clearly a fantasy. Artwork is beautiful though.
