3.5/5. Turns out it’s an anthology by many different artists and not one continual story so that left me disappointed but if you follow politics there are a lot of little touches that made me laugh out loud. Not bad, just not as good as expected.

Thank God for my subscription to my local comic book store. Every week, I get an email of upcoming titles in case I want to add anything to my subscription. When I saw in that list that there was going to be an AOC one-shot comic, I knew I had to get it.

Did I love this one-shot? Well... I'm extraordinary happy it exists. At certain stories and comics, I was delighted and charmed. I particularly loved four of the comics: The U.S. of Slay, Why I'm Rooting For Fox, Dance Party USA, and Make America Empathetic Again.

The U.S. of Slay and Make America Empathetic Again are both hilarious, slightly absurdist takes on our current political situation. In The U.S. of Slay, AOC and her allies (including Bernie Sanders and Maxine Waters) dance off against Mike Pence, Mitch McConnell, and their special interest groups for equality for all women. Who doesn't love a dance off for intersectional feminism? In Make America Empathetic Again, AOC shaves Donald Trump's head, freeing him of the hair that was making him be a monster. Oh, if only it were that easy!

In contrast, Why I'm Rooting for Fox and Dance Party USA are more serious, straightforward comic essays. In Why I'm Rooting for Fox, the comic explains how the cable news networks contributed to Trump's rise to power by giving him unprecedented airtime, and on the flip side how Fox New's similar (reactionary) coverage of AOC allows her to push forward her agenda and get airtime for real, serious issues as a young, new representative. Similarly, Dance Party USA ruminates on how AOC's viral dance video reflects a joyous attitude that will help her push forward an agenda on serious issues because "...You have to make it festive at times so the people join for the politics, stay for the party, and endure the hardships... because they know there's some dancing at the end."

I really enjoyed seeing AOC's face all over a comic book along with other new members of the House whom I admire. I do wish the issue was either by one writer telling a longer story or was more focused and organized in certain aspects even with multiple writers, but I have no regrets buying this issue. Its existence is spectacular. If you stan AOC, this is a must have!
