I really enjoyed this graphic novel. It was a fun story, and a great snapshot of a culture. Bonus points for being a story that thoroughly entertained my four-year-old; this is not aimed at the preschool set, but a story about an octopus (and friends) who fix up a car and end up driving it into space pretty much hit his major fandoms.

Super cool illustrations combined with a weird/fun story! I liked the Spanish sprinkled in and how interested I felt in cars while I was reading even though I'm not very interested in cars otherwise.

Definitely a fan (of the whole series).

This is such a fun and colorful read that is a love letter to cars and especially low rider culture. Highly recommend it!

The whiteout part had me rolling. This was such a fun story and the art reminds me of Miss Minutes from Loki - that old timey art style. I wasn’t sure going in how I would feel but I really enjoyed how goofy and fun this was! Also shout out to the author who is a librarian! (Fellow librarian here 😋) go lowriders!!

I appreciated the endnotes on the history of lowriders and found that so interesting. I wish more of that was reflected in the story.

This was a book for kids so the text was pretty simple (checking out books from Libby kinda obscures what age it's for haha) but I really enjoyed the creative artistic style with only Bic ballpoint pens. That was by far my favorite part. I probably will keep reading the rest of the series since it was a pretty short, intriguing read.

This book is original and inventive just like the lowrider in space. Combines fantasy, astronomy, car detailing and Mexican-American culture into one fun story. The artwork is really amazing-done with ballpoint pen!
