A young man named Doctor and his partner Shorty make their living from scamming the gullible out of their money and then living in fear of being caught. The story begins when Doctor and Shorty scam and elderly businesswoman. Terrance and Marisa, grandchildren of this woman, decide to go catch these scammers. These young people are intelligent and determined and not as gullible as some adults. Doctor is smart, resourceful, charming but not the perfect villain he would like to be.

This book is set in Jamaica and there was no question of taking the scammers to the police. This distrust of authority is the usual in any Caribbean country even today. Do not be too certain you know how the book will advance since there are plot twists. The book is funny at times although it was a little too slowly paced for me.
