One thing I love about this book series is that they do not shy away from the bad stuff. Marilyn Monroe did nude photos, scantily clad photos, and she did not hide it from the world. Showing that side of a person is wonderful and I am so glad to have read it.

'Marilyn Monroe' by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara with illustrations by Ana Albero is a picture book biography in the Little People, BIG DREAMS series.

Before she was Marilyn, she was Norma Jeane. She grew up in a series of foster homes. She grew up with a love of movies and the dream of becoming a star one day, and that dream came true.

I like this series and I'm always curious how they will handle difficult biographies. The illustrations are on the quirky side which works well for the subject.

I learned so much in this book that I realize I know very, VERY little about Ms. Monroe.

I think this book is about as close to her story as you can get for children. I like that it is just her rise to fame and doesn't cover anything after her first film. I also like how it doesn't shy away from her modeling career. The whole series of Little People Big Dreams is great!

This is the second book in this series that I've read and I'm a huge fan. They're beautifully illustrated, quick reads that are super interesting. Perfect for all ages. I'll definitely be reading more.
