Great for mainly younger children and helping understand why they may react in a certain and how to help with tantrums, outbursts etc. Would be great if there was a version for teenagers!

It’s odd to rate this book considering it’s contents.
I think this book has some very helpful information especially if you are a parent though if you are reading this to help get a better understanding of yourself and others this does help put things into perspective

Had I known this would be completely about children I probably would have picked something else. Nearly all about the developing minds of kids and managing their own chimps so didn't really offer me anything new from the chimp paradox which was a lot better

I still struggle with this concept, I read SP’s previous book & felt like everybody else was raving about it but me. I decided to give it a second go by reading this book, it still doesn’t resonate with me I’m afraid.

I read The Chimp Paradox several years ago and took a lot away from it in terms of understanding the workings of my overly anxious brain - it’s something I still refer to in conversation regularly. When I saw that this book was aimed at applying some of that model to a child’s brain, I was instantly intrigued and wanted to know more about how I could help my little one from a young age so that he didn’t end up with the same mental struggles that I face now.
The book was a fascinating insight into how very young brains work with regards to the model originally introduced in The Chimp Paradox and has helped me to reframe how I see some of my child’s behaviour (and therefore how I respond to it). It provided scientific thinking to help me understand how little brains process the world and how I can support the development of a healthy mindset as my baby grows up.
I’d recommend this to any parent and I’m sure I will be referring back to it several times throughout the course of my little one’s childhood to keep me on track.
