I give this 4 stars ⭐️.
This was honestly really good. I was not expecting for things to turn out how they did. Definitely a great suspense book.

it’s a 3.5.

so i didn’t expect some twists, which was cool but i felt like there could’ve been more… idk, i just think some things could’ve been touched on more/less but it was a good story

This isn’t a book about Gretchen but it is a book about Gretchen at the end of the day *wink wink*

To sum up Gretchen by Shannon Kirk: lots of twists, a few turns, and more puzzles than you knew one book could contain. Oh, and a dinner scene worth buying the whole novel for. Seriously, I'll never forget it. Film worthy.

Weird. Bizarre. Creepy. Gretchen grabbed my attention from the beginning. I felt the story waned a bit close to the end but picked up again in time for the finale. Definitely a story that will stick with me.

15-year-old Lucy and her mom have been moving from state to state her whole life and never settle down. Lucy’s mom is trying to protect Lucy, she was once kidnapped as a child by her Father’s family. They move to a new location and rent property from a single father and girl named Gretchen who is the same age as Lucy. Gretchen is strange. She is obsessed with puzzles and bones and anatomy. She wears the same dress every day. But she is desperate to be Lucy’s friend.

This book is interesting and unique because it has 2 very different plots that don’t seem to go together, until they do. I like what Shannon Kirk did with the story and I was interested and rooting for Lucy the whole book.
