Firstly, I have my marvellous step son to thank for gifting me this book. Having finished it, I'm not sure if it was a gift with some sort of hidden message or he just recognises that I love me a dark dark read. That's the overwhelming feeling that this book gave me throughout; dark and eerie. Even when things were happy and positive, I had a constant feeling of dread that something bad was going on.

I'm sure many people know all about this story, but I actually hadn't got a clue what it was about. Turns out it was chilling and compelling and I really enjoyed it. Rosemary was a fantastic main character and I immediately liked her. She was a smart woman who I think in 2024, would have found herself in a very different ending, but in the sixties, was bound by societal norms and being a "good wife". When everything started to unravel for Rosemary, I could feel her panic and despair leaking from the pages and it was difficult to read. The ending left me with such a cold feeling and total sadness for a woman who would do literally anything for her baby.

This was a super quick read but I really liked that there was no pointless filler, no fluff and the story was straight to the point. It has left me with a similar feeling I get after watching The Omen and I adore that movie. A great gift choice from my step son and as this book is now considered a classic, a classic I can tick off my list.

— incredibly eerie and well written, as well as accessible! i’d never been familiar with neither the text or the film but after watching it a couple of weeks ago i decided to read the book as well! what a payoff! quite honestly, a new favorite of mine, especially in the horror genre.

Bem construído, escrita completamente envolvente e personagens odiosos.
