I enjoyed this book for what it is. It being told from 2 perspectives in two halves was a different and interesting way to tell the story, because switching from Claire to Sef revealed some things I NEVER would have expected from reading Claire's half. That being said, I found certain parts very predictable and it didn't end in a very realistic way in my opinion. Overall though, it was a very quick read and I found it enjoyable and interesting.

This novel was very distinctive. It was a fun play on perspective and the set out of the novel was interesting and fresh. The narrative itself was also quite fascinating. It dealt with two completely different insecurities and personalities, each quite distinct. There were a lot of issues that were dealt with, the morally challenged users of the internet, the responsibility of fault and blame along with relationships with people who love and support in times of need. It was nice to read and fun to see the inquisitive gazes of people as they saw me holding a book upside down!

I enjoyed this book but there is so much more left to be desired. I felt the build up to the "truth" has so much investment to end wiht little pay off.

Pros
*Diversity - Middle East rep (Pakistani and Indian I think), ace, aro and bi rep, character with disability
*Great friendships
*Supportive parents, siblings

Cons
*The two side flip format was not executed well. I was confused when reading Sef's side and it did not add much to be necessary. Then there was that part that was Claire/Sef alternating which was better and flowed smoothly that having 2 separate parts for each PoV.

Overall, I think there were messages in this book that are important and relatable. Esoecailly those part in growing a channel/account and having to deal with followers/subs. I still enjoyed most of it and would want to check Pratt's other works.

A real tear-jerking, heart-stopping, jaw-dropping read if ever there was one. My favourite of Pratt's works.

I do so love Non Pratt’s writing, so when I had the opportunity to read Truth Or Dare I jumped at the chance. Non Pratt is absolutely fantastic at representing teens. She just gets it and her books are raw, truthful and utterly relatable. Even if you’re not a teenager, her writing brings you right back to those teenage years. She is also fantastic at representing a diverse range of people.

Truth or Dare centres around Sef and Claire. Sef and Claire decide to open up a YouTube channel to raise money for Sef’s brother who has had a traumatic brain injury. The idea for videos is to complete ‘Truth or Dares’ where the viewers donate money to see certain dares. The money will go towards therapy for Sef’s brother. As a reader, we hear from Claire and Sef’s point of view. We follow Claire first and then flip the book over for Sef’s point of view.

This book is and isn’t easy to read. Its subject matter makes it challenging to read, but it’s completely engrossing at the same time. Kam’s disability is obviously at the core of the story, Sef is really struggling to deal with the extent of his big brother’s injury. Other diverse elements include Claire’s best friend Seren being asexual. I had never read this in a book before, so I was really happy to see it included in a young adult book. As well as disability and sexuality being represented, Sef isn’t a white British character. Despite this book covering so many diverse subjects, it never feels like its diversity is being shoved down your throat. It’s subtle, it’s realistic and it’s wonderful.

I think this book would appeal to young adults and adults alike. There’s something in there for everyone.

This was a really interesting book. It's one of those books that's kind of not really had a lot of buzz, so I didn't know what I was going to get going into this.

Content warnings for: neurodisability, thrill seeking, sexual harassment, ace/aro-phobia, mental health problems, racism.

This is a book split in 2 halves, 1 side you read completely from Claire's POV then it switches to Sef's before alternating for the end.

The best friend of the main character is ace! She also then clarifies that she is also aro later on and I had no idea before going in and I was so pleasantly surprised. There is little to no representation of people who are ace/aro in books.

Read it all in one sitting. While it was very readable Sef was annoying and I hated him, even though I doubt we were supposed to. I wouldn't read this again nor recommend it but it was a fine read, something I read while waiting for the train.
