This is a charming, sweetly illustrated book about a home by the sea. My 8&9 year old boys and I ended it!

This beautiful picture book conveys most of what I love about the ocean and its shores. The words are sparse but lyrical. The pictures speak volumes.
I bumped the rating of this one because of the timing of finding this book on our “New Picture Books” shelf: we just closed on our own little blue house (literally!) by the sea (on the river that flows to the sea just minutes away). So excited to finally have a coastal home. It may not be in Newfoundland (as the book’s house is) but it is our own little slice of heaven on earth.

A calming, rhyming book about a little red-haired girl's peaceful life by the sea with a note from the author at the end about the importance of the Earth's oceans.

I really love the illustrations and color of this book. I just thought the words were a bit too simple.
