My favourite time slip author returns with another romance and mystery, this time with the second Pencradoc instalment. Cordy needs a break and so goes to help out her good friend Merryn who we met in Book 1. As we know from before Pencradoc has many secrets and this time the focus is on Victorian actress Lily Valentine. In current times they are celebrating the life of Lily and recreating a show she put on at the house. The story effortlessly weaves us into the past to see how events unfurled during the original play. I loved it. I loved Lily I think more than the modern day characters but as with Book 1 young Elsie steals the show. I've seen on twitter that she will have her own book and I can't wait for that.

Even though it's book 2 the stories work well as always as stand alones and you don't need to have read the first book to know what's going on. Always good to be able to start at the beginning though. It's clever, fun, sometimes scary (I think the scariest one Kirsty has done so far for me) and I loved it.

Lily's Secret - Kirsty Ferry ( 6 Stars)

Fans of Actress Mysteries (ex. Delia Draycott (Nancy Drew)) and all things spooky will love Lily's Secret. Victorian Actress Lily Valentine haunts the present seeking help from Pencradoc's new visitors Cordy and Matt.

‘There’s nothing logical about Pencradoc!’

Cordy is an aspiring actress on rest who comes to stay at Pencradoc after a break up and unfortunate flooding of her apartment, Matt is a local art teacher teaching a class at Pencradoc transitioning from past to present. We learn just what happened that fateful night someone was killed. As Cordy and Matt get closer so do the answers to The Lily Valentine mystery. Slip back in time on ghostly terms to learn all the secrets hidden in Pencradoc's past

Lily's Secret is written vividly! I couldn't put it down for a moment. This book is an addictive and engaging read, I'm obsessed with ghost stories and dual timelines and this acted seamless! My favorite character was none other than Miss bossy Lady Elsie, I love a little girl who knows how to run the show and shows no mercy to beating her own drum, very much mirroring myself as a child! Lily's Secret is the perfect start to your fall reads and it is easily rejoiced as a standalone novel in the Cornish Secrets Series. I delightfully enjoyed it as both an ebook and an audiobook.
