This is why I love Goodreads! After reading the description, I wasn't sold. Black Lies didn't sound like the type of book I would enjoy reading, but the fact that most of my GR friends rated it highly, and the average rating was 4.53 convinced me to give it a try. I absolutely loved it! This is not your every day love triangle romance. It is so much more than that. Torre did an amazing job with keeping me in suspense, and guessing right up until the very end. I cannot get over the mind that could come up with this book. Authors never cease to amaze me with their brilliance, but some authors have additional parts in their brains that allow them to think things that the average human can't. Either that, or I am extremely low on the creativity scale..
If you're unsure about reading this book based solely on the description, read it anyway. If you detest cheating, and cheaters, read it anyway. If you decide to read it, and love it, like this review! :)

6 Mind Blowing Stars

“Go ahead. Judge me. You have no idea what my love entails. I love two men. I fuck two men. If you think you've heard this story before, you haven't”

This book... WOW!!!! I am speechless and confused. I am Shocked and Awed. I have a HUGE book hangover and I don't know where to begin.

“I will fight for this love. Lie for it. Steal for it. It is worthy of that.”

You HAVE to read this book. This story is freaking GENIUS! This author did something that rarely happens, she stumped me. I had no idea what this would turn into. I had had so many questions while reading this and was confused in some parts but it all came together and I was blown away!

“This love is worth the unsaid truths. The hidden lies.”

Lana is one of my favorite heroines I've read about. She was tough and smart. Her love for both these men was so strong. I felt for her and both men.

“When you really love someone, you cannot walk away. No matter what they do. No matter the lies from their mouth, or the actions from their bodies, you tie yourself tightly to their sail and vow to be there through thick and thin. Let the wind blow you where it may. Even if that place is a crash. Even if that place tears you apart and kills anything good.”

This book was just a complex and mind fucking read. I highly recommend this book. Like I said... photo fucking-genius-o.gif

Wow! What a book!. I can say I wasn't a huge fan of the way this story started out but I'm so glad I hung in and finished it. So worth the time. You can sense the challenge all the characters face throughout. There is an explosive bomb shell secret that the female character finds out early in the book but we the reader don't find out until much later on. Let me say that was one hell of a secret and it blew my mind and made me think twice about all the trumped up assumptions I had made about the characters. This is a must read. On a scale of white to pitch black this story was a nice light grey in terms of darkness but still enough suspense and twists to keep even the darkest readers happy.

This is sort of like the movie "6th Sense" in that you think you have a good grasp of what's going on and then BAM! a revelation puts the whole thing into a new perspective. I almost didn't read it simply from the description. I've enjoyed everything else I've enjoyed by [a:Alessandra Torre|6452845|Alessandra Torre|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1420511824p2/6452845.jpg], so I decided to take the risk. I'm so glad I did.

I read this pretty fast and figured out the ~twist ~ halfway in (this is probably coz I remember reading a similar thing in a Sidney Sheldon book I read back in high school... only with less sex) . It was an enjoyable read tho and if you're looking to read a romance with a twist or a ~suspense with lots of sexytimes then I recommend you give this book a try. :-)

Another 5 star read brought to us by Ms. Torre!

This story was CRAZY! Like, I can't even find the right words kind of crazy and I wish I knew how to insert these great pictures everyone else has because this book caused a bunch of different reactions. There was intrigue, confusion, head shaking, intense thought, a number of WTF and body shifting moments, surprise and at the end the need for a standing ovation.

As I started it, I was confused about where this was going given the book description. We meet Brant; the brilliant, recluse, self-made billionaire. The relationship with him starts with a simple introduction and then we are all-in. So as I am reading I am still somewhat perplexed, there are little bits of information that we are given but it's never enough to really understand what the heck is going on. Then comes the "secret" but we don't know what it is and at first don't understand it. As a reader, I kept trying to guess what it was with the little tid-bits of information I was continually fed.

Then we meet Lee; the reckless, womanizing, landscaper. And then things get crazy, like WTF is going on crazy. This relationship starts with a not so simple introduction and then watch out cause things get wild. And when you think you might understand, you realize you don't, not even a little bit.

The reason I loved this book was because I love reading the unexpected, that book that keeps you guessing and wondering what in the world is happening right now. The one that keeps you up until oh-dark-thirty and makes you scowl at people who talk to you while you are reading. This is a twisted tale of unfaltering love; love so deep you would do anything, give anything, take anything to make it work. And here I am a number of hours later, still shaking my head because my mind has been blown.

Ms. Torre - my hat goes off to you!

OH my gosh this book was so good. My eyes were so full of tears I could barely read the last few pages.

I almost gave up on this book multiple times. I was drawn in from the beginning, but somewhere in the middle it was starting to lose me. I did find myself zooming through the pages, sometimes skipping some chunks in hopes of unearthing the secret. I am so glad I continued reading because the big secret was WORTH IT! I NEVER saw it coming.

A great story on the lengths one will go for love. Definitely had me engaged and thinking trying to figure out what was going on.
DO NOT read any spoilers.

“He was giving his heart to me with both hands, certain that it would lead to his demise.”
