OK - I think Jay Stringer is a decent writer of crime fiction.  I read my first book of his over 10 years ago but after a couple "other things happened" and it was only a couple of years ago that I started reading his books again.  It made me wonder why I'd stopped!  He writes tense, dark, stripped done stories that are quite punchy.  If you are a stranger to the Eoin Miller books probably best to start with Old Gold.  However once you have read that this would be a worthwhile read.  I got to this having read all three Old Gold books and I really enjoyed them.

This book of 4 short stories is good.  Two come under the heading of "decent enough" and are quite short.  Two others are Eoin Miller stories and both worked well for me.  You get the story of a "first date" for him which I really enjoyed and also an actual case involving a Romani (and others) campsite (he is part Romani).  Good stories well written.
