I found this book very addictive and captivating. This is the first time I've read Ednah Walters work but it will not be the last.
When the reader first meets Eirik Baldurson, the son of Baldur, he is entering Hel. Eirik believes this is the appropriate place for him and is eager to meet his mother who rules Hel. Unfortunately for Eirik, his mother has different ideas and he finds himself in a dire situation quickly. Celestia Devereaux's world changes when she astral projects to Hel, a place she didn't believe was real, and finds Eirik in need of her help. When Celestia becomes trapped in the underworld she and Eirik develop a relationship. Will Celestia help Eirik overcome his situation or will she leave a path of destruction in her wake?
I loved the world building in this book. I found myself easily visualizing this world and it's inhabitants. Although, there isn't much action until the end, it was not dull. I found myself enthralled in the activities of Celestia and Eirik. I enjoyed the progression of their relationship. I've never been a fan of the insta-love that is so popular in this genre, and was very pleased with the way Ednah Walters presented their interactions.
I found Eirik to be charming, sexy, and an irresistible alpha male. His fierceness over protecting Celestia and his loyalty to those he loves made him very attractive to me. And I loved Celestia. She is sweet, compassionate, and has a backbone she isn't afraid to use. But the main reason I loved her so much was because even though she was stuck in the underworld, while her mortal body lay who knows where in Louisiana, she stayed positive and tried to make the best of the situation. I found her a very enjoyable heroine and am looking forward to reading more about these two. The ending left my heart pounding and desperately wanting more.

I liked the new characters introduced in the spin off of the Rune Series, Trudy is great. I'm not sure how I feel about the insta-love with all the main characters, but I can overlook that because I am invested in all of them. It was nice to get to know Eirik better and see how much he has changed since the first book in the Runes series. The dynamic between Eirik's parents and between him and each of his parents was great.

I received an advanced reading copy in exchange for an honest review.

Wow! That's really all I can say.... This book is so so so so so so good!!!! I have always been a fan of Eirik but I have always wanted to know more about him. Boy did we learn a lot about him. Loved going into Hel and how she runs her world. Also loved reading about Rhys and some of Echo. It's plain to see how much he hates Echo. Celestia omg!!! I love her so much! She has the best attitude ever! I love how she try's to help everyone she can no matter how much danger she is in. I can't wait for the next book in the series to see what will happen with Celestia and Eirik.

I love Ednah Walters portrayal of Hel, Hella, the halls the souls and everything in this book.

To save his friends on earth Eirik goes willingly to meet his parents. He may be in Hel, but he didn't quite expect to be thrown into a dungeon and starved till he can release his 'true form'.
Celestia is a teenage witch- and proud of it. She uses her gift of astral projection save lives- she sees something bad happening and uses her astral form to save them, or reports details back to her father (chief of police) so he can save them. So when she finds herself in a young mans dungeon she figures that she has to help him before she will be free to return home. But there is more to the man that meets the eye, and she is unable to leave, no matter how hard she tries.

This is a side series to the Runes books, and it is great to see Eiriks story. I do however find myself impatient to reach the point where we last saw Eirik in 'Seeress'... but maybe I should have read this book before that one!

This book is the first in a trilogy, but is also a spin off Runes series. It follows Eirik as he goes to Hel meet his parents, Baldur and Hel. This book, just like the Runes books, sucked me in like a vacuum and and I could not come up for air until I was done, only to have to wait three long months for the next book. As Eirik learns all there is to being the son of Hel and the nightmares that go with it he meets Celestia, who is the light to his darkness. This book gives you a nice look into who Eirik is and reveals lots of twists that will make excellent future books. Loved reading it from both points of view.
