I actually liked this book better than the first two, only because it was a little less predictable.

This final book in the trilogy still left me craving more stories set in this world. I really enjoyed this series. They are REALLY quick reads and are great stories. Recommend.

This book was okay but I really struggled to get over that the female main characters had no control and no choices throughout the whole book. Towards the end they do come to terms with the decisions that have been made for them but I want to read about characters that have some control over their own future- Miranda and Arianna are just so powerless.

It also really frustrates me that Nir changes Miranda's name without her saying it's okay, if he'd said you need a new one choose I'd have been okay but he assigns her a name despite the fact she says she doesn't want to be called that, it just really rubbed in that she didn't belong to herself but it wasn't really acknowledged that this wasn't acceptable (Miranda objects to the name, but no one acknowledges that you can't just change another persons name against their will)

These are not necessarily objectively great books. But I really, really enjoy them every time I come back to them -- especially the first and third books.

This book was a big disappointment for me, because I loved the first one, the second one was okay, but this was just not what I wanted.

Okay first of all. It's a long time since I read this, and not all the details are in my brain so I WONT talk about those, but what I do remember is that I hated the start. Just so we're clear: SPOILERS!!

First mistake: Marak starts out dead. Well from my fangirl heart (even when I didn't know I had one) this was unacceptable. Marak and Kate was my ship, I didn't care half as much for the others as I did for them.

I know the storie would have been unable to continue without his death, but it was just not something I wanted to start out with.

Second: Marak had planned who should marry his son??? Wouldn't that go against the tradition? That ruins the hole point of the first book, Marak can't and won't choose another girl to be his bride because Kate is the one he wants and there can be no other, and he decides to take that away from his son??? Zero sense okay. That dumb excuse about her knowing from birth and so one was just ridiculous.

Another thing is that I actually got the wipe that Miranda (the girl, practically raised to be married of to the goblin king) was more interested in Marak than his son (whom she have never meet) and almost in love with him instead.

Then the thing with the elf lord was okay because it was pretty obvious from the second book that they should have some kind of bigger story.

But the thing that really pisses me off was how Kate all of the sudden is all quiet and calm. Yes she has grown up a hell of a lot and yes she did make it clear that she would not be "rescued" or "set free" but where was my Kate from the first book! Where was my strong minded heroine who (seriously SPOILERS) though Marak with everything she had, and stood a fair chance until her sister disappeared. I mean Marak was getting nervous. Where is the girl who, when finally getting her freedom, goes out to not only save her husband, she just recently found she might love, but also save the entire kingdom who held her captive. And it's not just easy pricey saving an entire kingdom. She has to fifth a god dame evil wizard hero har controlling the soles of the people she is ruling and the soul of her husband.

She was kick ass, why wasn't she kick ass???

And just so Miranda didn't feel like her entire life has been for nothing she gets to marry the elf king??!?!?! What???? It's just to messed up, and why would Marak jr. Just accept one of the brides he was offered?? If he's gonna get a bride that's not of his COMPLETE choosing then why the hell shouldn't it be Miranda??? What was with the random faking I love with the elf king???

Is it about parallels? Kate not getting to see the moon and stares as queen and Miranda's not suppose to be able to see ANYTHING at all. (stupid elfs and their sensitive eyes)

This book was, as I said, really disappointing. And i think I'm just gonna try to NOT remember it.
Just focus on the first book. That's the good one

Accidentally sat down and read this in one sitting. The first two books laid the groundwork for this one with its rich history and questionable ethics. This one does have mentions of TW: Self Harm after the first true conflict in the book, so please keep that in mind. However, the rest of the plot was very active and full of decent comminication between charactere. At the end, I closed the book and felt pretty bubbly and hopeful. My first actual story where the Elves aren’t dying off or going into the West.
