I read this book many moons ago and decided to reimmerse myself in this series via audiobook. It was a completely different but amazing experience. Rin crafts such a rich and vibrant world, you feel like you could step foot in an ashka. The different narrators helped seperate the story lines for me and I just couldn’t put it down once Tea’s training took off. Buying book two immediately

It took me so so long to finish. It had potential…but the way it was written just didn’t do it for me. Some of it intrigued me, but some of the plot points were muddy and confusing. Though you get the gist of it, there were still unanswered questions, and not the type you should have.

For my personal taste it was okay, if you enjoy a slow read, you’ll probably like this book. I typically enjoy a page turner with a lot of world building. There was some excitement at the end but it just felt a bit drawn out.

It took a really long time for me to get fully into this book, but by the end I was waiting for more!

When I saw this on Netgalley I thought it sounded really good and interesting.
It is interesting and a really cool idea and I sort of liked the first half of the book. Thinking that a lot of the questions will answered.
But they really didn’t. It just got worse and really it started to get really confusing and it got to the point where it was hard to follow the story. It also most seemed like the author lost focus on something, went to something else and back to the first part. There were some pretty good plot holes staring half way through the book.
Characters also seemed pretty flat and didn’t seems to grow much.
Overall. I liked the idea and the first part of the book in hopes it will answer a lot of things but it just got worse and worse.
Story and characters were just all over the place and it was neither enjoyable anymore nor made it a lot of sense.
I rate it at 2 ★

It's okay. The magic is interesting but I was a bit bored by the slow paced plot. The world building and characters are also just okay. I like the storytelling though.
