Funny, entertaining, and profound. It came easily to the dear man.

As for the title—SPOILERS: It seems to me that, in addition to the condemnation of violence and feminist monologues, this novel takes inversion of the grand old sexist fairytale far beyond something like the roles simply being reversed; in fact, the true opposite of death is birth, but achieving this metaphorically and with humanization of both sexes, with the woman giving the man life instead of him offering her death, is brilliant.

That said, in itself to have a work of true literature have a happy ending is an achievement.

“She had had a life. I had accumulated anecdotes. She was home. Home was somewhere I never thought I’d be.”

Vonnegut’s musings on the Abstract Expressionist school and art at large, Bluebeard does a lot to convince that the really important forms of art are those practiced by “mediocre” artists. Go write about your life or dance in your bar or paint a picture of girls on a swing set and don’t let your soul be embarrassed by your meat.
