I’m conflicted - when Walter writes about himself. I feel it and am drawn in - however not so much the rest of the book topic-5 writing/editing/structure - 3 - unfinished jumped all over the place too many characters that were not tied together in some sense but I will try and read more about CC

I enjoyed this book. I had already listened to Thompson-Hernandez's podcast about it, his voice is present here but while the podcast seemed like a taste of something larger, the book itself still seemed unfinished; maybe just one of those things when you are making something documentary, and it doesn't have a logical ending or happy wrap-up; overall things mostly get worse for the people involved, which is, well, real life.

This was an interesting topic I knew nothing about but it was hard to follow the "story" or the evolution of the group. This felt really choppy

The writing style could have been better at facilitating a personal connection with each cowboy and had a fuller storyline, but still an incredibly interesting read! I’ve been a fan of Kendrick Lamar for a long time but this book helped me understand and vibe with his music more deeply.
