For years Waryk has been fighting for the Scottish king who has now finally rewarded him for his years of service, highly valued property and the hand of a young heiress. Except the heiress, Mellyora, wants absolutely nothing to do with this plan. She had always planned on ruling her father's land and does not need any man to help her. The king gives her no choice and even with the wedding behind them it's a constant struggle between Waryk and Mellyora. Can a marriage that started with no trust find any sort of balance? Because there was a constant struggle with trust I did not feel there was a lot of romance between Waryk and Mellyora, I didn't feel the point when they fell in love.

Meh. I was looking forward to this because it was Scottish romance but...ugh. The heroine is soo annoying though I appreciate her attempts at controlling her destiny. The hero is decent, until he pretty much rapes his wife, but she sort of wanted it, but sort of didn't, so it's okay??? Not sure how that's supposed to work. Will probably not be reading any more in this series.

Come the Morning
By Heather Graham

Can someone please just shut this bitch up? All the heroine does is argue and fight and run away and cause more trouble. Here’s a woman living in 12th century Scotland who disrespects the king and her betrothed and just about everyone she comes across yet somehow, everyone shows patience and allows her to continue her shenanigans.

I could not stand the heroine, Melyora MacAdin. She was a spoiled brat who thought she should get everything her way but it was her constant bickering and arguing that drove me batty. It took up most of the book. The only reason I kept reading was because the author is extremely knowledgeable about Scottish history and it was fascinating. I learned a ton from just reading this story. It kept me from ripping the imaginary pages out of my e-reader whenever Melyora opened her mouth.

I did like the hero, Waryk de Graham. I liked how he handled Melyora. He didn’t over react and let her make herself look like a fool with all her idiotic schemes. He was a true hero.

I finished the book and decided to read the added excerpt from the next book in the series before I actually purchased it just on the off chance that this author would make another heroine so shrewish. Boy, am I glad I read it! It saved me time and money. Heather Graham obviously thinks impulsive and spoiled argumentative women are what makes a strong woman but it just made me want to slap the brat. It ruined what could have been a good book.

I won’t be buying another Heather Graham book.

The protagonist mentions wicca as a kind of old gods religion when it's set in the 12th century and wicca only emerged in the 1950's  which really annoyed me. I didn't like the protagonist, excluding the final quarter of the book she was intolerable, spoilt and just irritating.

For the first 75% of this book, the heroine was intolerable. She was a frantic, impulsive, shrieking whiligig of bad judgement. It was hard to root for her or care about her.
