The premise in this book is easy to figure out from the description on the front flap. But that isn't the story here as much as what happens to each family member after the secret is revealed. This is a very satisfying (albeit somewhat a stretch to believe)read.

2.5 stars. I liked Maggie's story better than Sylvies and hated that Marks story is never quite completed. I didn't dislike it but I didnt love it. Switching between tenses at times was hard to follow. The story def picked up speed when Maggie's story started and became more interesting. With a read.

Good book, kept my interest. Interesting characters, nice twist at the end. Not my favorite by this author but well worth the read.

I liked it. Yeah, you knew what was going to happen, but it was a good story.

Generally, a good book. But NOT plausible. Seriously. There was just TOO much in this book. It's possible that all this could happen- anorexia/binging, bigamy, teenage drinking, etc. But the circumstances where the girls meet- teenagers flying to NY from CA alone... who does that? No one I know. And also, why didn't the wives ever go on these so called "business trips" that Mark was constantly taking? Seems a little weird. Maybe he did a good job hiding his other family, but so much of this book seemed so implausible that I just had to finish it to know what happened, but it was like 3 books in one. An okay read, but not my favorite.

two women who live on opposite coasts but whose lives are connected in ways they never could have imagined. Both women are wives and mothers to children who are about to leave the nest for school. They're both in their forties and have husbands who travel more than either of them would like. They are both feeling an emptiness neither had expected. But when a shocking secret is exposed, their lives are blown apart. As dark truths from the past reveal themselves, will these two women be able to learn to forgive, for the sake of their children, if not for themselves?

Really enjoyed this book. It felt "real". This is the type of story that could have easily taken place anywhere. I will look for more books by this author.

It wasn’t a “must-read” for me... pretty predictable

There was nothing earth shattering about this book. It was predictable (saw that twist coming from chapter 1 - LOTS of hints along the way). However, it was a quick and enjoyable read which was just what I needed.

I won this book on Goodreads and was so excited to read it. I've read almost all of Jane Green's books and I'm a big fan of hers. This book was not my favorite. Part One was too slow for me and I kept waiting for something to happen. Once Part 2 (and onward) started it did pick up the pace and it held my attention. But it didn't have the page-turning quality of the other books of hers that I've read. I'm still a huge Jane Green fan and I'll always read anything she writes. Looking forward to the next one.
