This is a second chance story and I love them so much, and I enjoyed this one a lot but few things were missing. First, the characters weren't developed well enough, we know that they loved each other in the past but I didn't get to see it: not enough memory scenes in my opinion. Second, I thought the writing could've been better. It felt rushed.

But I loved the message behind it

Fighting to hold back tears

Wow
Second chance at:
your dreams
love lost
Everything you can't live without...
A beautifully told story about young love that was separated by fear. Fear split them up and fear kept them apart. Only death and making amends seems to have put them back together...or at least in the same town.
World's of hurt apart, but geographically close. Will they be able to bridge the gap?

Austin and Lea have a second chance at what they used to have after Lea left Austin due to her father's passing. Their story focuses on loss a lot as Lea loses both parents, which defines her as a person. It was a shame that loss was such a big part of the story because it took away from the carefree romance they could have had. The plot was slightly underdeveloped and moments during the grief process that should have been more in-depth to be more impactful were fade to black or brushed over.

I wasn't particularly keen on the nicknames Wolf and Lamb which were the character's last names. It did become very cringe. This book is slightly different to Aurora's other reads as there is no drama and high stake action and Austin is a more subtle alpha when it comes to Lea. He definitely has those tendencies though. Some of the character's actions were rapid reactions to scenarios and then suddenly there would be a 360 in their feelings, with minimal explanation and build-up.

Oh Little Lamb how I enjoyed reading your story. I knew Fighting to Breathe would be an emotional read from the prologue and it was. Lea and Austin have one of those special connections that time and distance do nothing to diminish. There is so much heartache and secrets involved in their story that right from the beginning I just wanted them to work everything out. I loved reading their story.

Lea and Austin fell in love when they were still in school. They planned forever together, only plans changed. Lea left her hometown shortly after graduating high school and hasn't been back in 15 years. She has tried to move on from Austin, tried to find someone else, but she just can't. She never really moves on from Austin. Their connection is just too strong. They are meant to be.

When Lea's mom needs her to return Lea does even though she is worried about seeing Austin again. When Lea left it crushed him. She is worried that he might have moved on, or if not what would that mean? He never came after her, never said anything in 15 years. As much as it hurt to leave him it hurt more to not have him come after her. What will it be like to see him again?

Austin has a lot of pent up anger toward Lea for how she just left him without looking back. He loved her so much, and he thought she loved him, so how could she do something like that? He has only ever wanted to be with her. He has tried to move on, but just couldn't. She is it for him, but he is so angry with her at the same time.

It was just nice seeing these two try and work out their differences. Once you find out what happens, what secrets some people kept from them, you just feel so bad for both of them. It was hard not to be angry with some of the characters as these two are obviously not happy by themselves and they just deserve to be together. They could have had these past 15 years, but instead were kept apart.

Once things were revealed it was a really sweet story. Lea still has a lot to deal with, but Austin is so good with her. He wants to be there for her and help her through things. He doesn't want to rush back into something only to have her leave again. Oh I loved their story. It moved quickly at times, but they were so sweet together. Another great read from this author.

Une romance comme je les aime : une seconde chance, un passé douloureux, en Alaska <3, des moments où j'ai pleuré / d'autres où j'ai couiné ... Bref, une bonne lecture x)

A romance as I like them : a second chance romance, a painful past, in Alaska <3, times when I cried / others where I squealed ... In short, a good reading x)

So I will be completely honest... At first I was like "Oh these people have nothing to do with other characters" because I read too much and it took me till about the end to figure out that Austin is Lilly's Austin and then it all clicked and i started the whole thing over... because I mean who doesn't love doing that.

Anywho...

This was GREAT. I think sometimes that I would get tired of Aurora's writing or that the stories would seem similar, but they don't. I wanted to cry in the beginning when Austin talks to Lea, and for what they lost. And was really believable, except the loads of money part, but my friend in Alaska assures me that prices like that are common.

I also found myself feeling really bad for Lea's husband... and I know that i shouldn't. but I did. Almost.
