Why? Why was this written? Why was it made into a movie? Why would Christopher Walken and/or Helen Mirren agree to star in it? Why is it on the "1001 Books You Must Read" list? Unless you have a very strong stomach, or enjoy "can't get out of the town" stories (which I hate), don't bother.
