I'm being generous with this rating.
So...you're telling me that J.K. Rowling hated the teacher she based Snape on due to be horrible to her and other students but then claimed for Snape to be a hero? What kind of circus is she running, lmao?????
Anyway, f u c k Snape and stan the Marauders and Lily Evans.

Not bad. The only thing I didn't like was that it didn't necessarily go in order. It starts with her as an adult and then goes back to her childhood.

This felt a little light, even for the "Who is..." series. However, I think that's because I'm such a big JK fan and would love to hear so much more about her life and writing. JK is such a fantastic story to share with children because she spent 7 years working on the first Harry Potter book and persisted through all sorts of life issues to see her work finished and published. True tenacity and a strong work ethic were rewarded, and JK's imagination is second to none. I also love how JK has spent so much time giving back to causes that have deeply affected her life. A class act, and I would be proud to share her story with anyone of any age.

My second book from this series. These are really fast reads!

A nice quick, but fairly info-packed children's biography. Since Harry Potter is such a wildly popular book, I think this book is a great one for a reader who is looking to stretch their genre choices. Learning about the person who created a world you love to read about is not such a hard step, and from there it's not so hard to make the leap to other biographies.

P.S. I think the illustrations and "sidebar" pages add a lot in this series; they make the content more acessible for a generation accustomed to great graphics and of short attention spans.

This is the second Who Is/Who Was book that I’ve read and it affirmed my belief that this is a great series to help kids get into the biography genre. Of course, any fan of Harry Potter is going to gobble this up! I loved how the authors tactfully informed about Ms. Rowling’s early adulthood (her financial and personal struggles) and also captured the mania that became All-Things-Potter. I also continue to find the insets about historical events or other relevant people to be terrific additions to the story. Those insets plus the timelines and bibliography included in each book push this series up a notch!
