I wish this would have been a lot longer, and I thought the artwork, particularly the other crew members of Serenity, could have been a lot better. But mostly I really liked this, just wanted more of it.

Wow. I never really saw that revelation coming.

A different tangent for sure especially as this presents Book’s life from death to birth. Thing is, he has some major skeletons in his closet, and there's always the other side of the coin that contributes to one’s truth.

Smart and deftly told in a short 59 paged comic, making it no less impactful.

This is really more of a short character study of Shepherd Book from the TV show FIREFLY than a complete story. Still, for those of you familiar with the show, it's worth seeking out. I found it to be very effective, and it fills in a lot (but not all!) of Book's mysterious back story. The art is evocative, and I found the combination of art and story to be very effective.

I knocked a star off for the ridiculously hefty price tag and the brevity of the story.

It's not a very thick book but it's amazing how much history it conveys in so few pages. And I think writing with restraint is harder than writing a lot.

The main downside is that now I want to know more about the stories that are implied and what went on in his mind. But at the same it feels like I know the salient points of his life and what shaped his life.

I do think it cleared up some of my questions with regard to the character in an interesting way... Now if they'd only write a one-shot for each of the flashbacks as well...

Short but illuminating. Obviously there could have been so much more said and written about the life of Shepherd Book.

The life story of one of my most favorite characters in the series... :-D

All the Firefly comic read like little extra episodes of the series. They answer a few questions that people have asked of characters and this one is no exception.

The structure of nested flashbacks about Book’s life is nicely paced and it dove tails well into the movie and series.

I just loved what this one graphic novel did for Shepherd Book's story.

I really wish my library had the rest of this series!! Not gunna lie, Book was always my least favorite character but this really did him justice. Scratched that itch for more Serenity and satisfied the huge mystery surrounding his character.
