Wow. Of all the big mountain books I’ve read, this is by far the best. Jordan’s ability to blend the lives of the women and climbers involved in the stories is incredible. I feel like for the first time in a long time I read a different story of alpinism and not the same old same every other book, tv show or movie portrays. To read of the heroism, strength and feminism of these women while balancing the cost of high altitude climbing is really worth reading about.

3.5 stars, a really compassionate summary of these climbers lives (i do find it weird that their physical attractiveness was harped on so much though, so i’m docking a star for that)
