The good: this book was written and published by fans! The bad: this book was written and published by fans. But seriously... overall the book was average, but the individual essays varied a lot. Some were really well thought out and insightful, and others were just these detailed, tedious blow by blow summaries. Some were well-written, while others really could have used a beta reader. (Or should I say editor?) Regardless, it's really great to see some essays of academic quality, and then realize that this is something someone wrote just for the heck of it, not because they need to get published to get tenure, but because they really, truly LIKE this show.
