Didn't love it. I have played a lot of Horizon Zero Dawn, and this comic just felt like one of its side quests. I would have only given it 2 stars were I not already familiar with the game - there wasn't much background info to help newcomers to the franchise understand things (such as information on different types of weapons, or that "shards" means money). I liked seeing the new machines though! I will definitely read the other Horizon Zero Dawn comic miniseries as well.

It's nice to see some more about talanah and her time between the first and second game!

First of all it is way too short for mine obsession with Horizon: Zero Dawn.

The story follows the new Sunhawk: Talanah, the first female to hold that title since the founding of the Hunter’s Lodge. She is restless since she gained the title to honor her fallen father and brother, she takes a contract to get rid of a new Machine that causes trouble for the people in Rising Light but she gets injured. Talanah gets saved by Amadis a former soldier who deserted after the slaughter of Southern Spear. Hunted by Kyran, a other member from the Lodge, for the bounty on Amadis’ head they wound up in a cave with a whole new threat lurking in the water.

Like I said I found the story too short and the art style was something that I’m not my preference.

This comic centers on Talanah shortly after the end of the first game, and hints at things to come in the next game (Horizon Forbidden West), but it's accessible to readers new to the world of Horizon as well. I loved the characters, they really made the story, and had some heartfelt moments. There were darker moments but overall I found the story to have a more positive tone. The art is lovely, and the faces are expressive, I took pictures of a couple panels to send to friends. I'd recommend this to anyone, regardless of whether or not they're familiar with Horizon Zero Dawn.
