Fear Street # 94

Hannah and Jesse are step-siblings, but they face a common enemy: the Burger Brothers. The Burgers, Mike and Roy, are you're cookie-cutter oversized 12-year-old ogre bullies. They torment the small Hannah and Jesse by ruining their classwork, their backpacks, their shoes, etc., mostly by throwing them into water. This gets frustrating. One afternoon, while fishing her backpack out of Fear Lake, Hannah finds a bottle. It's old and stoppered and there's a warning label. It says do not open. Obviously, little brother Jesse is going to open that bottle.

Turns out it's a genie! "Gene" is a terrible cross between Robin Williams and the Djinn from 'Wishmaster' complete with wise cracks. Also, he's a little deaf and blind because of the whole being old thing. This leads to wishes going wrong. Hannah and Jesse are genre-savvy enough to know their wishes must be carefully worded, and yet, they still make some fundamental mistakes with their wishes. Also, they barely consider NOT using the wishes for revenge. Still, this wasn't a bad installment to the series and it was nice that Hannah and Jesse have basic human decency.
