Like a reader's digest of civil war era biographies. It gives a great sense of the changes/accomplishments made during this time period. Nicely written and read. Very enjoyable.

This book has vignettes about famous and infamous people that were involved in the Civil War. It describes what happened to them after the Civil War's conclusion. It was easy to read and well written.  You can stop and start easily since each short chapter is about a new person or topic.

It may be slightly skewed toward the Confederates. The Yankees seem to get more negative adjectives than the Rebs.
